"Deep garnet-purple colored the 2009 Bin 128 Shiraz offers aromas of ripe blackberries and black cherries over notes of tar, loam and black pepper. Taut and well structured in the mouth, it offers a good amount of earthy / savory fruit supported by crisp acid and a medium to firm level of grainy tannins, finishing long and peppery. Drink it now to 2017. " RP
Coonawarra enjoys a relatively cool climate and the profile of shiraz from this region differs markedly to shiraz produced from the Barossa. Aromatically, the Bin 128 Coonawarra Shiraz exhibits more peppery spice than sweet spice, red rather than black fruits and fennel over aniseed. Structurally it is firmer, with pronounced acid and savoury tannins.
This refined wine is renowned for its consistency and reliability as both a current-drinking and cellaring-type red.
Bin 128 represents the synergistic blending of Penfoldsí mastery of shiraz with the unique climate and growing conditions of Coonawarra, to create a wine that delivers a distinctly regional twist to the classic Penfolds style.

|We think of Pearson Vineyards as an undiscovered little jewel of a winery. Itís one of the smallest wineries we work with, and itís one of the most interesting. Jim Pearson, the owner, manager, viticulturist and winemaker, is considered by many to be the 'Garagiste' of the Clare Valley. And when heís not busy growing grapes and making wine, he runs the tasting room and sells wine at the cellar door. Jim makes the wine in a little shed next to his house. The facilities may not be impressive, but the wines certainly are. Pearson Vineyards currently offers two very special reds, a Cabernet Franc and a Cabernet Sauvignon. Both are full, rich flavorful wines that offer a great deal of complexity without a lot of oak.
